Universal Travel pass was launched by Maharashtra govt in the time of Covid 19. When the Covid 19 pandemic hit the world most of the people were in their houses locked down. But the emergency workers like hospital staff, doctors, nurses, municipality staff, energy sector staff, maintenance staff, telecom staff, and others were working day and night to keep the systems running.
After govt announced an India-wide lockdown and people were not allowed to travel, they were scrutinized at various checkpoints by police. Travelling was very difficult even in emergencies. To ease the pain of traveling in such an emergency for normal people and emergency workers, Maharashtra Govt announced the launch of Universal travel pass.
The purpose of this universal travel pass was to help citizens and staffs of different emergency establishments travel without any barrier. Looking into the pain of traveling for our covid warriors Maharashtra govt introduced this online pass system.
Moto of Universal Travel Pass
The universal travel pass is issued and regulated by the Disaster Management team of Maharashtra Govt. The motto of this pass is to allow citizens to travel during the lockdown and post lockdown periods.
It is available for two types of people; one is the regular Citizens and another is the emergency staff of different establishments. The establishments have been categorized based on their nature of work and passes are approved accordingly.
The staff of various establishments will be allowed to travel without any restriction during this lockdown phase and also after the lockdown period. Establishments can apply for a universal travel pass online and each pass has a unique QR code which can be scanned by various railway and bus authorities for scrutinizing the person.
The Process of Establishment for Universal Travel Pass
Individua establishments can apply for a Universal travel pass online. To register their establishment and staff they have to follow the below process,
Step 1- Establishment Registration
Step 2- Review and Approve By DM
Step 3- Staff upload photo and generate Travel Pass
Step 4- SMS to approved staff members
Step 5- Establishment to upload Staff using CSV
The first step for establishments is to apply for registration in the system. This one-time activity requires basic details of the establishment and the coordinator details. The coordinator assigned will be the Single Point of Contact. The coordinator assigned will be responsible for furnishing the correct details of the staff.
After successful registration of the establishment, it will go for a review, and the disaster management authority is the final authority that will approve the application after due diligence. Once the application is approved the coordinator can upload documents of staff and get them registered. Each user will be verified through an OTP (one-time password) on their mobile phone. Once verified they can log in to the system and generate the universal pass. The generated universal pass can be downloaded and kept for hassle-free traveling.
One can keep the generated Universal travel pass soft copy or printed copy with them to show at various police checkpoints. If any authority like bus or Train asks for the pass you can show the image on your mobile phone or the printed copy. There is a unique QR code in that pass that will identify who you are and what is the purpose of your traveling.
