What Services Does a Hair Salon Usually Provide?

Services Does a Hair Salon Usually Provide

There are many different types of salons in any urban setting. In the same context, the services they offer can also vary from place to place. Without getting into semantics, women require grooming and haircare services fairly frequently, whether for everyday needs, professional events, or social gatherings. As a result, you are likely to find several such establishments in any given area. In addition, the prices can vary based on several formats. For example, salon services at home in Dubai will cost differently compared to salon services in an upscale or exclusive spa salon. But are they all the same? How do you know if you’re getting the best value for your hard-earned money?

To help you make a more informed decision, let’s examine the types of salons and the services they offer. Read on to discover more.

The Most Common Types of Services

The beauty and aesthetics industry has grown exponentially over the past decade. With social media and HD cameras in every smartphone, people have become extremely particular about how they look. Or at least, how they want to look. Accordingly, they no longer go for the “Jack of all trades” beautician. Instead, salons that offer specialized services to meet specific beauty needs are usually the go-to choice for customers. While the specifics of each salon can differ, most people expect these services from the salon they visit:

  • Haircuts
  • Hair dyeing.
  • Blow dry and styling.
  • Manicure and nail treatment.
  • Tanning and skincare.
  • Facial treatments
  • Body or neck massages.
  • Ancillary services like aromatherapy, acupuncture, etc.

However, it is important to note that every salon business does not offer all of these services. The range of services can and does change frequently. And, in addition, general beauty salons don’t offer the same quality of service as ones that specialize in certain areas. Here’s what services to expect from different types of salons:

Upscale Establishments

Upscale or high-street establishments are the stereotype most people associate with a great salon. These businesses are usually found in high-profile business areas or posh residential settings. They usually come with all the trappings, including attention-grabbing logos, huge windows, and branded uniforms for their staff. These salons tend to offer a broader (and expensive!) range of beauty services. They are also a lot more likely to include complementary services within the price you pay for regular ones. However, based on their location, the equipment and products they use, and the expenses they incur, these will be priced higher than the average salon business. Therefore, the price of the service includes components relating to the premises and ambiance, along with the products and expertise.

Country Club or Hotel Spas

Spa salons, especially those associated with an upmarket country club or an expensive hotel, are usually based on the same premises as the club or hotel. But, in keeping with their upper-income clientele, spa salon prices usually reflect the same price brackets as the larger establishment. At the same time, the quality of their services is also meant to live up to the larger brand. They will typically list luxury services such as saunas, deep tissue massages, and organic cleansing beverages. These spas will also offer a much higher level of attention and care to their customers. From the moment you step into the spa to the moment you pay the service bill, you can expect a very high level of customer service and excellent customer experiences. Of course, they may come with an even higher price level than the average upscale salon in a posh neighborhood.

Mobile Establishments

Mobile establishments are typically a lot less formal than the ones above. These involve beauticians and grooming experts traveling to your home to offer you the beauty services you need. Of course, this means you will not have access to things like a sauna room or a tanning bed. But there is a lot to be said about convenience. Especially during a pandemic, when keeping social activity to a minimum is both safe and responsible.

However, the informal approach does not mean you have to compromise on your expectations. And most mobile beauticians and salon experts understand that! In countries like Dubai, you can arrange a salon appointment at short notice, and within the comfort and relative safety of your own home. Moreover, you can expect specialists to attend to your needs just as professionally as in a spa. They will likely bring in their own tools and equipment. And most will include appropriate hygienic measures to ensure you run little to no risk of infections. Whether from Covid-19 or otherwise!
