The 5 reasons your child should join basketball camp

956views

I’ve been playing basketball for over 7 years, and I’ve coached various age groups and teams. I now coach a travel team of 14-year-olds that has been to four national championships. I love coaching because it’s like being a part of a family — you get to know the kids on a personal level, then you get to coach them, and you see how much they’ve grown as players. It’s no secret that kids today are getting more and more active. Whether it’s because of technological advances, or just the general trend toward fitness, there’s no reason why every child should be different from their peers.

But what about those kids who want to get into sports and look for the basketball camp but don’t know where to start? We’ve found 5 reasons why your child should join basketball camp:

1.   It’s a great place to meet new friends.

Kids will make lifelong friends at basketball camp, and they’ll stick with them long after the program ends. It’s important for kids to make new friends in school, but they can also find friends on the court during basketball season. A team environment is also important for developing social skills, which helps them grow as individuals over time.

2.   It teaches your child team work skills.

Basketball is all about teamwork — you need everyone working together if you want to win games! Kids learn communication skills, building relationships and following directions while they’re playing ball on the court each day. Many camps offer plenty of opportunities for role-playing games where kids work together as a team with coaches acting as referees so they can practice these valuable lessons in real life situations outside.

3.   It’s good exercise

Basketball is a full-body sport. It’s important to get your body moving regularly, especially if you’re going to be playing for the next four or five hours. If you’re not used to getting up and moving around during the day, then basketball camp will be a great way for you to get in shape and learn some new skills that can help you on the court.

4.   You’ll meet other kids your age who love what they do

Basketball is a team sport, but when you play at camp it doesn’t feel like one. There are no coaches yelling at us from behind a desk; instead we are learning from each other and working together as a team as we play our games and scrimmage against other teams throughout the day. This type of environment helps develop social skills and teamwork skills that will last after camp ends until graduation day!

5.   Coach can help prepare your kids for high school

The coach will guide kids through all aspects of basketball training including shooting, dribbling, passing and defense – all while working with different age groups throughout the camp program so that by the end of your kids’experiencethey will have learned how to compete at the highest levels of competition with confidence.
