Are you interested in learning how to season a cabinet humidor? If so, you’ve come to the right place! The best part about keeping cigars at home instead of buying them at the store is being able to pick out your own and being able to season your own humidor, but most people don’t know how to do this properly. Luckily, with these steps, you’ll be an expert in no time!

How to season a new humidor

Humidors are made with different materials and have varying shapes and sizes, but they all need to be seasoned before use. Seasoning is vital in maintaining your cigar’s optimum level of moisture. You’ll also want to ensure that you give your humidor regular love after it has been used for some time as seasoned cigars hold moisture longer than fresh cigars do. Try these four easy steps for seasoning a new humidor 1. Make sure your humidor is clean and dry before placing any cigars inside. If you can smell anything other than wood or cedar inside, then you should clean it out thoroughly first. (This might mean taking off its hinges and scrubbing down every inch.) To make sure it stays dry, wipe down both sides of each shelf with a damp cloth or paper towel (and remember to turn them over). Let everything air-dry completely before proceeding to step two.

Seasoning an older humidor

if you get one of these older models, they will likely be pre-seasoned. However, we recommend using Humi Fresh Cigar Seasoning tabs after seasoning your wood cabinet humidor. If it’s a newer model, it should have instructions for seasoning with Distilled Water. Be sure and follow them closely – you do not want to over-humidify your cabinet humidor and potential warp your humidifier! How long does it take to season?

The full seasoning process can take as little as one week or up to three months, depending on how frequently you open your box and for how long. Check back in on your humidity levels every other day, then every few days after that. Try to keep them around 70%. If they get too high (above 80%), you’ll have more trouble getting your wood ready. On the flip side, if they stay below 60%, it will take much longer than necessary to create a consistent humid environment—you want that wood damp but not sopping wet. Even after it’s at its ideal humidity level, make sure you check it once or twice a month.

Removing the cedar

Cedar comes from trees in Northern California, and is used as a natural insect repellent. However, cedar can create an undesirable aroma when it’s used for cigar storage. The easiest way to eliminate any unwanted odor is by removing it from your storage unit or box. You can do so by following these steps

A few tips on getting started with cigars

One great way to enjoy your first cigar is to share it with someone else. You could try pairing cigars with a glass of scotch or other spirit, or enjoy one after you finish your favorite meal. Regardless of how you plan on enjoying them, it’s recommended that you keep your cigars in some sort of humidor. Humidors come in many shapes and sizes and are often made out of different types of wood. There are more than just wooden boxes though; you can also find high-end pieces made out of ceramic, crystal, and even leather.

Mistakes people make when starting out with cigars

Humidors are an excellent way to store cigars and protect them from harsh elements. However, using a humidor incorrectly can lead to serious damage. This guide will teach you how to properly use and maintain your cigar humidor. Here’s what you need: – Humidifier Beads – These beads turn water into humidity; it’s easy, just place them in with your cigars! – A hygrometer – This is also pretty simple, they’re usually on or near your bead container when you buy it! – Digital Thermometer – Be sure these meet each other in common room temperature before calibrating them. You will also need these 3 things: time, money and patience. A lot of patience.
